Rosette Nebula
On 12/23/2025 11:30 pm by Helio de Carvalho Vital | Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This is the Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49). Located 5.2 thousand light-years away, it is a huge nursery of stars and also part of the giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The stars of the open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) have been formed from the nebula's matter. The photo was acquired during a total integrated time of 2.5 h on Dec. 23, 2025 using a Seestar S50 telescope (with its LP filter on) under Bortle 7 skies.
