Geminids and Rocky Mountains

Sometimes you want a few puffy clouds in your photo, but then there are situations when you definitely do not want clouds anywhere near you. At least you thought you don’t want them…
That’s what happened to me on Saturday night, the peak of the Geminids Meteor. All day the weather had been perfect - but after midnight the clouds rolled in and the wind started blowing. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed. I had high hopes for this potentially exciting meteor shower, and was on the verge of giving up and heading home. But I decided to stay on my dark meadow and maybe would get a break in the clouds. And I did get lucky : The wind tore the clouds apart and I could see first meteors streaking by! And my biggest surprise were actually the leftover remnants of the clouds, now getting great illumination from the rising moon and adding to the overall very dramatic atmosphere!
A big meteor zipping brightly lit up above the snowy Rockies - Enjoy!!
