An Unexpected Clearing
On 12/13/2025 05:02 am by Cecille Kennedy | Oregon Coast, Oregon
There was an unexpected clearing and through the window I saw Jupiter and beloved constellation Orion radiant in the western sky. There were thin small clouds but the celestial objects are distinct and entrancing. I convinced my sleepy eyes to go outside and take photos especially knowing that rains and more rains are expected in the next days. I've already told myself it's fine if the clouds have covered them when I finally set up the tripod, this has happened before.
Jupiter shines the largest and brightest in the image. Gemini twins Castor (bluish) and Pollux (reddish) are over and to the right of Jupiter. Procyon, Sirius, Betelgeuse, Aldebaran, the Pleiades (lower right) and Capella are markedly visible.
