Double-Crested Cormorant
On 11/21/2025 11:38 am by Cecille Kennedy | Lincoln City, Oregon
The solitary sub-adult double crested cormorant was standing on the large driftwood for a few minutes simply looking around in all directions now and then. At adulthood his feathers would be deep copper brown bordered in black and his eyes aquamarine blue.
The bird earns its name from plumes, ranging from white to black, that crown either side of the head during the breeding season, that is in spring and summer.
