Description
This widefield image highlights one of the richest regions of the northern Milky Way: the glowing hydrogen clouds and dark dust lanes surrounding Sadr (Gamma Cygni), the central star of the Northern Cross.
To the right of the field lies the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888), created by fast stellar winds from the massive Wolf–Rayet star WR 136. The winds carve out a glowing bubble of ionized gas, producing the nebula’s thin arcs and filamentary structure.
Captured over 18.5 hours of total exposure under Bortle 8 city skies, the image reveals the faint, intricate details of this complex star-forming region.
The final composition is cropped from the 135mm framing.
