Lunar Fog Corona
On 11/05/2025 06:13 pm by Chientien Chien | Website | Miaoli, Taiwan
This photo captures an exceptionally rare multiple-order fog corona. When moonlight passes through a thin layer of ground fog composed of nearly uniform water droplets, diffraction produces colorful interference rings. While fog coronas are usually faint and limited to one or two rings, this image shows many vivid, well-defined rings—evidence of highly uniform droplet sizes and calm, stable air.
A fleeting harmony of light, mist, and moon—where atmospheric physics meets quiet beauty.
