King Bolete

The wind blew it on its side but the king bolete stem is only slightly broken. Insects and other small creatures have eaten chunks of its large head which is about 11 inches (28 centimeters) diameter. The king bolete (Boletus edulis) is a majestic edible mushroom. I found it solitary in the common neighborhood yard and left it there.
