Aurora over the M. R. Štefánik Monument, Slovakia
On October 18, 2025, a stream of fast solar wind from a coronal hole produced a geomagnetic storm strong enough to make the aurora visible from Central Europe.
The red and pink glow appeared above the monumental tomb of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik — founder of the Slovak Republic, aviator, and distinguished astronomer known for his studies of the Sun. It was a fitting tribute from the very star he once explored.
