Pileated Woodpecker
On 10/12/2025 01:37 pm by Lorraine Boyd | Delmar, New York
In the woods by my yard I often hear the Pileated Woodpeckers, so it's a treat when I am able to see them. They are the largest woodpecker in North America. The large cavities they create are crucial for other species, such as owls and bats. This one is a male, with the red cheek stripe.
