Hello everyone. I did a live stream on my tiktok to show people how great the seeing was and also had some amazing captures. Approximately 20 total captures and 14 captures were able to be used. I went with all 14 to derotate because I really needed to process less noise and more of the even with the two storms on the south end making their appearances known. There are a total of 3 storms on Saturn’s polar cap which started as one months ago and is transforming to 3. I believe this planet is going to be active as the Southern end swings on us. In processing I left no stone unturned. The pixels were a must to take care of and be delicate. After derotation I was able to jump into Photoshop and clean up the image the way I know how. My career is knowing these programs and all the bells and whistles to make sure you keep every single detail. From reducing noise, to Camera map filter, all the way to smart sharpens and despeckles, it takes a lot of work to do these images and its easier when the data is fantastic. (such as this capture) Witht hat said I am pleased to bring you what appears to be my prize 2025 capture and the one I was waiting for all year. I’ve had many transit photos but mainly with average seeing. The seeing on this was fantastic with spells of incredibly excellent seeing where you can see the globe of Titan very very crispy and its shadow was easily resolved on live view even when it was barely there as it entered and exited. The shadow was bigger than I expected in process. (Possibly a mask from win jupos)Now for the features. Saturn is similar to Jupiter. The bands are exactly always the same and i’ve observed a bunch of bands broken and waved and doing all kinds of things that change every single week just like on Jupiter. The most noted band that I have seen that is changing is located on the North section which is the purple band. This has changed in size from thick over the summer to thinning out. The large salmon color band on top of the brown band is also thinning out some. I am also seeing at the South pole section a loss of the pinkish color that was once more shown a few months back. The rings are thin, and the shadow is bent backwards. Titan has some features but barely noted however the disk is easily resolved.I believe the success of this image has a lot to do with the seeing conditions. You would be surprised how clear it can get in my backyard in terms of seeing.
