Beautiful Sunrise Fogbow at 6.47 am
On 10/02/2025 06:47 am by Peter Lowenstein | Website | Mutare, Zimbabwe
Half an hour after the Sun rose behind my house on Murambi Heights on Thursday 2nd October, a beautiful Fogbow developed in the middle of a misty morning view from my front veranda. All the conditions were right – bright sunshine from the rear with the Sun less than twenty degrees above the horizon plus clearing mist and cloud at the anti-solar point. Low night time temperature with high humidity following rain and drizzle from a late unseasonal ‘Guti’ resulted in the delayed development of the low bank of early morning mist which displayed the Fogbow so well. More information on fogbows which includes an earlier picture taken by me from the same location in April 2020 at https://earthsky.org/earth/what-is-a-fogbow/
