Saturn at Opposition 2025

This year's opposition is special due to the shallow tilt angle of the rings. I like the description "razor-edge," which is more than apt! The night was clear, cool, and still, with excellent seeing. I waited until Saturn was at a respectable altitude above the horizon before I started capturing photons. I could tell from my laptop screen that I was getting some good data. Post-processing bore out my auspicious feelings, yielding one of my best Saturn images to date!
