The Oldest Moon in the Twilight Glow

In Taiwan, the seventh lunar month is traditionally known as “Ghost Month.” On the final dawn before the closing of the ghost gate, I quietly awaited the rise of the oldest Moon.
Through my binoculars, I searched and searched—until at last, a ghostly, ultra-thin white arc quietly appeared above the eastern horizon. This 28.7-day-old waning crescent, illuminated by only 0.7% of its surface, was the Moon’s last graceful silhouette before its “rebirth” as the new moon.
In the orange-red and indigo twilight glow, this oldest Moon, soon to vanish into daylight, appeared both mysterious and enchanting.
