The Moon Approaches the Pleiades
On 09/13/2025 04:10 am by Meiying Lee | Website | Taipei, Taiwan
This composite photo is made of two images taken 4 hours and 40 minutes apart. The left one was captured on September 12, 2025, at 23:30, and the right one on September 13, 2025, at 04:10. It clearly shows the Moon gradually approaching the Pleiades star cluster (M45), demonstrating the Moon’s motion relative to the background stars. Such a photo beautifully records the apparent movement of the Moon and highlights the stunning sight of its conjunction with the star cluster.
Because the brightness difference between the moon and the Pleiades is so great, the two photos were taken using the camera's HDR mode to highlight the clear outline of the moon.
