The Moon’s Journey Through the Eclipse

This infographic illustrates the different phases of a lunar eclipse. Since I photographed all the stages of the last total lunar eclipse, I was able to witness the Moon passing through each phase, from the bright full Moon, through penumbral and partial eclipses, to the total eclipse glowing red inside Earth’s shadow.

Created from real lunar photographs I captured, this design shows how the Moon may go through all or only some of these stages, depending on the type of eclipse.
