Eclipse From the Blue into the Blue

As the recent total lunar eclipse on Sept. 7, 2025, occurred during the dusk over Záhradné, eastern Slovakia, I wanted to demonstrate the cause of colors in the Earth's shadow more clearly than before. This time-lapse mosaic shows the entire totality from right to left. As we know, the sky is blue due to Rayleigh scattering in our atmosphere, while the red breaks through the Earth's atmosphere on the lunar surface. At the end of the totality, when the sky was already dark, a little bit of blue appeared on the lunar edge as well. It is discussed to be caused by the ozone layer in our atmosphere, through which the blue is not filtered, and so it continues to the edge of the Moon as well.
