Purple Sunbird, Eclipse Plummage.

The image is of a Purple Sunbird in eclipse plummage. Though not purple colored as the name suggests. Its because the bird is currently in a non breeding plummage, more commonly referred to as 'eclipse plummage' for male purple sunbirds. In India, its breeding season is between the months of April and June, just before the monsoons. In these months, the breeding males completely transform into a beautiful and vibrant blue-purple colors. The eclipse plummage has a small glimpse of those colors which vibrantly pop out of the muted yellows.
