Where did everybody go?
On 08/03/2025 12:39 pm by Randy Strauss | Omaha, Nebraska suburb
I put out bird feed, cracked corn and plenty of water in my backyard for a wide variety of birds, squirrels and rabbits. This adult Cooper's hawk (with its distinctive red eyes, classic raptor beak and talons) dropped by on a breezy Sunday and sat on my fence, ready to poach any bird that didn't notice it. All potential victims immediately disappeared and the hawk left when I tried to get closer for a better photo.
