The Milky Way over Rocca Busambra

The beauty of summer nights in Sicily: the Milky Way rises over Rocca Busambra, a 1,613-meter high peak, the highest of the Sicani Mountains in the province of Palermo. Its name, derived from Arabic, means "dark mountain": it rises jaggedly above the greenery that characterizes the Bosco Ficuzza. At its foot, you can see the lights of the small village of Ficuzza, created following the construction of the Real Casina di Caccia commissioned by the Bourbon King Ferdinand III of Sicily around 1800.
