Never Give Up

On 07/23/2025 11:01 pm by Andrea Curzi | Website | Campo Imperatore - Italy

Good morning,

My name is Andrea Curzi, and I'm sending you this exceptional shot taken during the night of July 23, 2025, at approximately 11:01 PM, from Campo Imperatore (AQ, Italy).

It is the trail of the second stage of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, NASA TRACERS mission, launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 11:13 a.m. PDT (18:13 UTC) that same day. The trajectory and high-altitude solar illumination made the phenomenon visible as a bright cone/plume all the way to Italy, where I took this image! Among other things, you can see the Milky Way on the right, with the Andromeda Galaxy and the Pole Star perfectly centered in the photo.

Given the scientific and visual nature of the image, I hope it will find space on your channels—social media, publications, sky galleries—as documentation of a rare and evocative phenomenon, increasingly visible thanks to space launches.

I'm available to provide RAW images, complete metadata, and further details.
The image is available for sharing, subject to the use of credits with tags

Thank you for your attention and have a good day,
Andrea Curzi
