It's not surprising that strong refraction near the horizon flattens sunset images, but what if the sun suddenly became a mushroom?
Sunset for Sunday, July 20, 2025. I captured some sunset images over the sea from the coast of Tripoli, Libya. As the sunlight passed through this layer, it underwent a complex series of refractions and reflections that affected the sun, causing it to take on very different shapes.
