A 97% illuminated moon rises beyond Elephant Head mountain, in southern Arizona, Tuesday evening at sunset. Just left of the moon, the Whipple Observatory is also visible on top of Mt. Hopkins. July's full 'Thunder Moon' rises after sunset on Thursday.
