Messier 22, the Great Sagittarius Globular Cluster.
100,000 stars, 80 light years across, 10,000 light years away.
This was the first deep space object I came across randomly when I first started browsing around with a telescope. I could only barely see it, as a faint, ghostly patch of light, but I immediately knew it was something special. I always love coming back to it.
