Canyon Sunrise

Magic Morning: Sunrise at New Mexico’s Sugarite Canyon, a deep and beautiful cleft in the landscape. We were just getting ready to go for an early hike, when Nature stunned us with a very special showtime. It was a bit overcast, which gave the morning sky that necessary oomph to explode in a rich orange tint all around us and created a dramatic contrast between the many ridges of the canyon, which were lined with a few trees, that looked like giant, black guards. To top it all off, suddenly fog started lifting up from the much lower floor of the canyon, drifting and lingering in the saturated scenery right in front of us! It resembled a giant, steaming pasta pot. The spectacle lasted only a few minutes, before the sun crested the mountain chain towards the east and burned the fog away. But luckily we got some good photos of this magic morning. Enjoy!
