battered moon

Shown is the 5.7 days Moon terminator close to the Mare Nectaris, the round flat-floored center feature. Towards upper right lies the best preserved portion of the 860 km Nectaris basin rim, the Rupes Altai, a scarp illuminated by the low rising Sun. A short impact chain is seen at the upper left corner of the image; the well contrasted crater right of center with bright central peaks is 110 km wide Theophilus.
