Shadow of Titan on Saturn's Globe
On 05/31/2025 05:18 am by Robert Lunsford | El Cajon, CA USA
I waited for over an hour for cirrus clouds to thin enough to capture this image. Bright twilight was well underway with the sun's altitude only 5 degrees below the horizon. Working at 71 frames per second keeps the background dark. If you turn the brightness up you will be able to see Titan at the 10 o'clock position less than one Saturn diameter from the planet.
9.25in SCT working at f/12.6 plus an atmospheric dispersion corrector.
10k frames at 71fps processed with AutoStakkert. The final 5k frames processed with RegiStax 6.
