Wood Duck Family
On 05/30/2025 04:40 pm by Lorraine Boyd | Mechanicville, New York
A Mom Wood Duck with her thirteen ducklings (females typically lay between 6 and 16 eggs per brood). They nest in hollow trees high above the ground or water. After hatching, the ducklings jump down from the nest, sometimes from heights over 50 ft. Their downy feathers & pliable bones provide cushioning upon landing.
