Canada geese parents and five goslings are swimming at the creek. Geese are precocial birds which means that their young are born with their eyes open, covered in down, and able to move around freely. The goslings can swim and walk within 24 hours of hatching, and are able to find and eat food on their own, always keeping a close distance with their parents.
I walked to a low footbridge to take this photo trying to keep quiet and unobtrusive. The geese family were trying to climb up on the grassy slope but some of the walkers have dogs that bark at them so they had to go back to the water. They finally made it to a tiny island on the wide part of the creek.
