Galactic Rise Over Moonland
On 04/28/2025 12:00 am by Naiteek Vikamsey | Website | Lamayuru Moon Land, Ladakh, India
Captured on a cold and windy night, this image shows the Milky Way rising above the strange and beautiful landscape of Moonland near Lamayuru, Ladakh. This region is called 'Moonland' because the ground looks oddly like the surface of the Moon—full of soft, rounded hills, craters, and smooth, wave-like shapes. Long ago, it’s believed that a lake covered this area. After the lake dried up, the land was slowly shaped by wind and rain over millions of years. What’s left is a natural wonder made of soft, pale yellow and beige earth that glows golden during the day and looks even more mysterious under the stars.
