Bumblebee With Pollen Basket Upon A Rose
On 05/18/2025 10:48 am by Cecille Kennedy | Oregon Coast, Oregon
The tricolored bumblebee is about to land and collect pollen in the half-bloomed Rosa rugosa. Note the gold lump on its legs, which I thought at first were foot pads. Actually they are pollen baskets called corbiculae, part of the hind legs of the female which they use in harvesting and carrying pollen to their colony.
