Half-Bloomed Geum

The scarlet geum flower also called avens is very attractive. When the bud opens they are bright yellow at first then later turn into blazing red. When the long lasting bloom matures the center portion turns gold yellow. The upper plant and roots have value in making the herbal medicine tincture of avens which is a mild sedative.
