The Distant Ocean
On 05/14/2025 11:52 am by Cecille Kennedy | Lincoln City, Oregon
On the upper left of the photo, the long horizontal sand spit (Salishan Spit) opens to the Pacific Ocean. The sand spit acts as a barrier between the ocean and Siletz Bay. I took the photo near the top of a hill on the eastern side looking west northwest.
The yellow flowers on the right are scotch broom ‘Cytisus scoparius’. Scotch broom is a highly invasive plant species that has spread extensively along the Oregon coast.
