A common duck with an uncommon appearance

I went to a wetland forest along the Missouri River to photograph colorful birds. Shortly after sunrise I noticed wood ducks residing high up in trees. This male and his female companion perched in this tree for around fifteen minutes before moving on. Although fairly common, wood ducks are considered the most colorful duck in this area, and the sweptback head feathers add to their unique appearance.
