The photo was taken on May 3, 2025 during the ShaRA astrophotographers' meeting, who were granted the use of the large telescope to observe the emissions of an AGN (active galactic nucleus), the emissions of the Civetta nebula (M97) and the rotation speed of M82.
The Asiago Astrophysical Observatory was founded in 1942 with the inauguration of the Galileo telescope of the University of Padua, whose silver dome stands out among green meadows in Pennar.
The Asiago Plateau, due to its altitude, the few lights present at the time, the transparency of the atmosphere and the good percentage of clear nights, was chosen to host what was at the time the largest telescope in Europe, the Galileo, with its primary mirror with a diameter of 122 cm. In a very short time the Asiago Observatory distinguished itself internationally especially for its studies on stellar variability phenomena.
