Neptune and Titan (a composite photo) 1st May
On 05/01/2025 05:16 am by Tom Tan | Melbourne, Victoria
This is a mock-up of a picture of Neptune with Titan taken this morning.
The two will be close together in early July. Now they are still wide apart but moved together to get a close-up.
This is a multiple exposure of a shorter exposure for Saturn and a longer exposure for Neptune. I have moved Neptune close to Saturn. The background is a composite.
I also boosted the color in the Neptune photo to show the blue.
The shapes are not very round. My tracking mount was not aligned.
William Optics 61 360mm
Nikon D7500 APS-C 1.5X camera
Exposure bracket from 1/2 second (Saturn) to 2 seconds (Neptune) in 1/3 stops, ISO 3200
Shot in portrait mode to cover the more than 3 degrees spread.
Photo is presented here in landscape mode as cropped and zoomed in.
RAW format
Titan frame was not edited.
Neptune frame was added as a second layer, moved close to Saturn,
color boosted with Velvia (more color saturation) and color correction (more blue)
black level used to align the backgrounds.
Cropped and zoomed in.
