Wild Apple Blossoms
On 04/24/2025 11:54 am by Cecille Kennedy | Depoe Bay, Oregon
This is a wild apple tree blooming, bringing cheer on a typical cloudy day at the coast. Unlike the commercial orchard apple trees, the wild ones like the one in the photo grow tall and spread wide. They are pruned to height and width on the orchards to make harvesting the fruits easier or more practical.
The bumblebees (not shown in the photo) are abuzz fleeting among the flowers. The sweet scent and nectar of the apple blossoms attract the bumblebees, and they need the nectar to feed their colonies. The bees are also necessary for pollination.
