Jupiter above Fading Volcanic Sunset
On 04/23/2025 05:50 pm by Peter Lowenstein | Website | Mutare, Zimbabwe
Following a ‘Guti’ with persistent cold cloudy weather and rain over the Easter Weekend, clear skies during the day have been followed by a return of volcanic sunsets which on Wednesday 23rd April was accompanied by a bright display of crepuscular rays which extended as high as Jupiter and then receded in the early evening sky (see accompanying montage of pictures taken looking towards Transmitter Hill). Amazing that sufficient volcanic aerosols from the January 2022 eruption of the Hunga-Tonga volcano should, after more than three years, still be lingering in the stratosphere above Zimbabwe.
Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset mode.
Compilation of montage of four pictures taken between 5.50 and 5.55 pm.
