Spring doesn't really come at 9000' in the Rockies until May. This flower popped up on 4/16 and I got this pic the next day. I actually saw it in the morning when the petals were still closed up (it still freezes at night at this altitude) and watched the petals open when the sun hit the flower. This flower is about 4" tall, you can see the pine cone behind it if you look. Welcome to spring.
Canon R with CPL and Canon EF L 24-70 f4 is usm in modified macro mode. I primarily use this lens for astrophotography and it works great for close-ups with its modified macro mode. I didn't even know it had such a thing. The lens glass is probably only 4" from the flower.
