Leo Triplet galaxies
On 04/01/2025 09:00 pm by Shireen Gonzaga | Cockeysville, Maryland, USA
This is the Leo triplet: Messier 65 (top right), Messier 66 (bottom right), and NGC 3628 (left), at 35, 31, and 35 million light years away, respectively. It’s amazing what you can do with just a camera, telephoto lens, and star tracker. This was taken from my backyard just outside Baltimore. The total exposure time was 10 hours, taken over 4 nights.
Nikon Z6II, Nikkor 400 mm with 1.4x teleconverter, ISO 800, f/7.1. SA GTI mount. Controlled with ASIAir mini. Guided. 200 x 3m exposure time (total 10h).
