A Desert Sunrise...

Earlier I had shared an image of a single ocotillo flower cluster. This is a wider image of sunrise in a 'jungle' of ocotillo plants. They are too elegant, with small green leaves and many long and sharp needles, and of course, the beautiful red flower clusters. In the desert, the plants have to conserve energy and with small leaves, not much water is lost from 'perspiration.' The needles are protective additions so as not to be consumed, yet the bright red flowers, attract the pollinators. Survival of the fittest!
