Spring Equinox

I like to think he's singing to celebrate Spring's arrival but more likely, this European Starling is singing for a mate near the nesting spot he's selected. His iridescent plumage is striking in the afternoon light. These birds were brought to North America by Shakespeare enthusiasts—100 birds were let loose in Central Park, New York in the 1890s.
