First pic using PixInsight--Pinwheel Galaxy
On 03/02/2025 01:00 am by Andy Dungan | Website | Near Cotopaxi, Colorado USA
My astrophotography journey continues to amaze me. Equipment is so important and software may well be more important. I never would have imagined how much more detail I could get from data using PI (PixInsight). The difference is astonishing. Imagine how much better I can get when I have some real understanding of PixInsight. This experience has proved to me that software is as important if not more important than the hardware. SO much to learn. PS Pinwheel is 21 million light-years away!

AM5/ASIair+, Askar OAG + ASI174mini for guiding, EAF
First pic developed 100% with PixInsight
All from stacking to making jpeg done with PixInsight (along with modules from RC
Astro, Seti and others). Never could I have imagined that using PixInsight would produce so much better a result. Many thanks to Cuiv, The Lazy Geek for his comprehensive PI Beginners guide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCotRiUIWtg). I never could have made my first PI pic without that video.
