41 days of Solar Trails

🌞I recently tried a new photography technique: Solargraphy. Unlike conventional photography, where we capture a moment, here we record the movement of the Sun over weeks or months, creating unique, unexpected and sometimes ethereal images. Many practitioners of this technique leave their cameras to capture from the winter solstice to the summer solstice, resulting in fascinating compositions.

For this experiment, I used a 50cl beer can transformed into a pinhole camera, loaded with light-sensitive photographic paper. The camera was placed in a fixed location and kept capturing sunlight from February 3rd until today, March 16th. I decided to remove it before the scheduled time, as I noticed that it somehow moved, creating an overlapping effect that ended up being interesting.

The pinhole camera is a camera without a lens, and solargraphy does not require any traditional chemical development—the negative image is formed directly on the paper after a long exposure. It is a process that requires patience and experimentation, allowing us to visualize in a unique way the trajectory of our mother star over time.

I hope you enjoy it 😉
