Moon, Jupiter and Passing ISS

On 03/05/2025 06:45 pm by Peter Lowenstein | Website | Mutare, Zimbabwe

In the evening on Wednesday 5th March, following an incredible display of Sunset Crepuscular Rays to the west of Mutare (spectacular post to follow) the International Space Station (ISS) was observed transiting to the north of the Waxing Crescent Moon and Jupiter between 6.45 and 6.46 pm. This was captured in a series of 12 consecutive still images taken a few seconds apart four of which have been used to produce the accompanying montage and a timelapse animation which will be posted as a Disqus comment if this submission is accepted. The moving satellite, which was brighter than Jupiter, was confirmed to be the ISS using ‘Visible ISS passes over Harare’ at https://www.astroviewer.net/iss/en/observation.php

Compilation of montage of four pictures taken between 6.45 and 6.46 pm using 'Star Spikes Pro' filter to enhance visibility of Jupiter and the ISS.
