Marvel at the breathtaking beauty of the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101), a stunning spiral galaxy located approximately 21 million light-years away from Earth.
This celestial wonder is home to hundreds of billions of stars, with estimates suggesting around 100 billion stellar inhabitants. The Pinwheel Galaxy was first discovered by French astronomer Pierre Méchain in 1781 and later added to Charles Messier's famous catalog of deep-sky objects.
M101 resides in the constellation Ursa Major, named after the Great Bear in ancient mythology. As we gaze upon this cosmic masterpiece, we're reminded of the awe-inspiring beauty and mystery that awaits us in the vast expanse of the universe.
