I don't mean to be rude, but I'm going to ignore you while I'm having my supper...

Driving down one of the busiest streets in the city during rush hour I noticed this hawk perched on a street light, ignoring the considerable traffic noise directly below. I found a place to park and walked back to where the hawk was, surprised it was still there. For about fifteen minutes the hawk surveyed its domain. Then I could see it had noticed something. It dove off of the top of the street light and caught a field mouse in short grass fifty feet away. The hawk ate the mouse in less than a minute and was so interested in the meal it allowed me to get exceptionally close for this photo. It then flew back to its street light perch and resumed the hunt.
