Angel Nebula (NGC2170) and surrounds
On 01/29/2025 01:00 am by Andy Dungan | Website | Near Cotopaxi, Colorado USA
This pic is centered around the Angel Nebula, NGC2170 (the orange area between the 3 brightest stars). There are numerous objects in the vicinity and a tremendous amount of dust. It just fascinates me how much there really is in space. We grew up thinking space was empty, it's not. This was a very difficult object to get pics of. I ended up resorting to 63, 15 minute pics over 3 nights (15.75 hours) and it was still very difficult to develop this pic and get the colors to emerge. I will be glad when I someday learn to use pixinsight. Still I am proud to have been able to get this much detail and color out of my medium grade equipment.
