I was walking through the park with a couple friends when we heard the tapping of a woodpecker. In closer look we found a Red-breasted Sapsucker. He was very accommodating and I was able to get quite a few shots of it. They are named for their habit of drilling rows of shallow wells in shrubs and trees, then lapping up the sap with their brush-tipped tongues.
