Accidental 15 minute star trail photo
On 01/20/2025 10:50 pm by Andy Dungan | Website | Near Cotopaxi, Colorado USA
I was talking very long exposures for a deep space object (15 minutes each). During the meridian flip the cable to the guiding camera pulled out (it was -10F). The result was I got a number of 15 minute star trails pics (before I woke up and fixed the problem). This is one of them. The lines are straight because I am no where near the north star (declination -6.5deg). This is my first star trail photo. It's kind of cool how 1, 15 minute photo looks. I never would have thought to do this, but maybe I will try this one day pointed at true north (with a wider lense, this is from a 600mm lens). I just had to send this in because it was such a cool accident. I don't know what the two dots are from.

After doing a meridian flip a cable pulled out (resulting in guiding not working) and I accidentally got a star trails pic with one 15 minute exposure.
