MARS OPPOSITION 2025. Mars was insane looking in my live view last night and I decided it was time to get lucky... boy was I in for a treat and so are you. Mars has entered Spring and the North polar cap is shrinking by the week. Today, we are facing Mariner Valley the home of one of the largest canyons in the solar system the Valles Marineris. (Center bottom)
Dust storms and Clouds are visible as well as the best photo I have ever taken of Olympus Mons off to the left side.
MARS is basically at its best and with the seeing as good as it was I am certain I may not have another shot for a very very long time. We will have to see. The process is straight forward, this time I used the new 2.5x Powermate a slight upgrade from the 2.25x BAADER barlow and the powermate didn't hold back. The processing was not as heavy as the last photo and this is what I think is a more natural look and color. This is about 35-40 minutes of derotation fun. Lots of frames.
